| Before you begin, you need to prepare your skin Start with a clean, dry face.
You may wish to use a light moisturizer, or your daily sunscreen.
Wait for approximately 3-5 minutes before applying mineral make-up. This will give the moisturizer time to absorb, making application smoother. Back to top
| | Eyeliner If applying wet, first wet the tip of your angled liner and quickly dip it into your desired powder. If applying dry, omit wetting the tip of the brush. Using the back of your hand, mix to a paste.
If you have an unsteady hand, lean your elbow on your workspace and apply slowly.Or, you
Make a dotted line along your eyelid and join.
Use a clean brush or Q-Tip to smudge as necessary.

| | Foundation: Examples of the many ways to apply foundation Example 1: Put the bristles of your brush against the open sifter jar.
Tip the jar upside down and tap once to load your brush. Remember you only need a small amount.
Tap the bristles against the sifter jar so the excess falls off the brush back into the jar to be used next time.
Using the lid off the sifter jar swirl the brush around the lid and tap against the rim to remove any excess.
In small, gentle yet firm circles, move the brush against your skin (this is called buffing) starting by the ear and working towards the nose.
This is to help ensure that a concentration of minerals do not get trapped in any fine lines or pores and to aid in achieving a smoother appearance.
Reload your brush in the same manner and do the other cheek. Do the same for your chin and forehead.
You will normally only need to go over your face twice (this is called layering). To help match your shade you could use a lighter color on your first layer followed by a slightly darker one on your second.
If you want to use the Set Me! powder as a finishing powder, use a separate brush and follow the above method to set your foundation.
Example 2: Tap some minerals into the palm of your hand or a little mixing dish.
Add a drop or two of your favorite moisturizer.
Mix the two until a nice creamy paste is achieved.
Use either your fingers or flocked sponge to apply to your skin and blend.
This gives a beautiful, even finish, and you can layer it as you can with Examples 1. Apply a little extra to cover any blemishes or dark circles around eye area.
Use a brush to apply your finishing powder, if desired.
If your skin is too sensitive to do the buffing method, simply use a flat top and stroke the minerals onto your face in a downward motion to keep fine facial hair from sticking up.

| | To keep eyeshadow from settling into your foundation: Loose mineral shadows will fall onto the skin during application and will settle into the foundation, and once this happens,it is hard to fix without starting all over again. To prevent this, AFTER you've applied your foundation, take a clean shadow or concealer brush and dip it into Set Me! Powder, then gently dab the powder under the eye and out to the corners. The powder will be a white-ish color, but don't freak, just leave it. Apply your eye make-up as usual. After the eyes have been completed, take your flat top buffer and buff out the remaining Set Me!powder. Your shadows will not have settled and your face will look perfect! Back to top
| | Eye Shadow (Powder) Applying eye shadow varies due to personal tastes, but to help eye shadow last all day here are some tips:
Pat off any excess moisturizer on your eyelid. Excess moisture can cause product creasing in the lid area.
Apply a light layer of your foundation before applying your eye shadow.
Lightly dust finishing powder over the top when you have finished.
Wet your eye shadow brush with water to apply eye shadow (this is called foiling. If applying dry,do not wet the brush.
When you have finished applying powder you may choose to lightly spray with a water mist to help set. Back to top
| | Blushes & Bronzers Example 1: After you have applied foundation or setting powder:
With a closed sifter jar or mixing dish, tap a small amount of powder into the lid.
Swirl a blush brush around the lid or dish and tap off any excess.
With a light hand, gently brush against your cheeks. If you aren't sure where to brush the blush, simply smile and brush against the upraised portion of your cheeks sweeping towards the hairline.
Example 2: Mix blushes, bronzers, or Dew Anything Powders with your favorite moisturizer and lightly apply. Remember, most Dew Anything! powders and blushes can be mixed into clear gloss, so you can match your cheek color!

| | Lips (Powder) All of our blushes and most Dew Anything! Powders are safe to use on your lips.
Sample 1: Using a wet lip brush, dip into the powder of choice and apply. You will want to use a seperate small dish for this, or the palm of your hand.
Sample 2: Apply your favorite lip balm, dip your dry brush into the powder and apply.
Another tip to make your lip color last longer is to apply either Set Me! Powder or your Loose Mineral Foundation before applying lip liner and color.

| | How do I know which foundation color is best for me? To anwser this question, flip your wrist over and take a look. The reason we use the wrist is because it's the one place that doesn't get a lot of sun and is closest to your true color. Now, what undertones do you see? Red? Yellow? Pink? Olive? Blue? A little red and yellow? Don't let this overwhelm you. It takes time to train your eye to see the undertones. I recommend doing this experiment with a friend or two whose color varies a little from your own. When you put your wrists together, your more likely to "see" the undertones. When you've done this and made a decision about your color undertone, select and sample several shades with your tone. The foundation should disappear per se, and you should not be able to tell where the face ends and the neck begins. The one that disappears into your skin is the one for you. If possible, when selecting a foundation, try it on during the day for natural lighting and accuracy (take a mirror outside if you need to).
Most women make the mistake of choosing a color that is too orange or pink and are actually shocked to see how off they have been in selecting the right foundation shade, and have to adjust to wearing the correct one! Remember, the point of make up is not to change your color or cover you up, but to enhance your skin and facial features. You want people to notice YOU, not your make-up. Back to top
| | Other Tips & Reading 1: Use a setting powder under your foundation to help give skin an even finish.
2: When mixing moisturizer with minerals, only mix enough for the day. Although our minerals aren't organic, your moisturizer is so there is the possibility of contamination.
3: Invest in good brushes!
4: Wash your brushes at least once a week to remove build-up and bacteria. This will help prevent breakouts.
5: Don't be afraid to experiment or mix colors together, you could achieve some great looks with this method.
If make-up is new to you, or you're just looking for new ideas and looks, a great book to pick up is "Making Faces" by Kevin Aucoin. He doesn't teach mineral make-up per se, but has great tips on achieving looks of all kinds.

| | Your Skin Care Tips: Cleansing Daily cleansing is the most important part of skin care, and is the one thing you should be consistant at doing.
You should cleanse once in the morning and TWICE at night.
The reason you should cleanse in the morning with cleanser is: Dirty pillow cases, bed mites, dust, pet dander etc. It all builds up on your skin overnight.
Why TWICE at night? By the time you get home after a long day, you will have a build up of sunscreen, makeup, dust, pollution, etc. You need to clean at least 2 times to get this build up off your skin and out of your pores. Do this consistantly and you'll notice a huge difference in your skins appearance. Back to top
| | Your Skin Care Tips: Exfoliation Exfoliation is an important part of skin care, especially if you want your make up to go on smoothly.
As we age, our cellular turn over takes longer and the build up of dead skin (up to 22 dead layers) can just stay there. This causes a dull appearance and doesn't allow your skin care products to penetrate as well, nor the bad stuff (like hardend sebum) under the skin to come out.
My suggestion on exfoliation is this if you are in your:
20's: Exfoliate 2 times per week.
30's: Exfoliate 2 to 3 times per week.
40's: or over 3 to 4 (at the most) per week.
Please do not use apricot scrub on the face. It's too harsh for the delicate areas. Better to use it on your feet:)
That being said, I'm a huge fan of IMAGE and their Total Resurfacing Mask for exfoliation, but it's not for all skin types or conditions, so check with your aesthetician to see what would work best for you. Back to top
| | Your Skin Care Tips: Sunscreen Daily This is a must and can't be ignored. Over exposure to the sun is the #1 cause of premature aging, not to mention skin cancer. And, incidental exposure i.e. getting in /out of your car to go to work or the store, the sun coming through your car windows, etc. is the worse. You're probably thinking "What is the big deal?" Well, the big deal is it's EVERYDAY, 365 days a year, year after year. After a while, it takes a toll on your skin and your age will show.
Do not choose your sunscreen on SPF alone. Choose by ingredients.
The top of the list of ingredients shoud be titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, period.
My favorites are:
1)Organic Solar Defence by Image
2)Ultimate, Sport Defence by Skinceuticles
3)Organic 30 by DDF
4)Tinted Day Protection by Janssen
