I received this from Melissa Cherry, a Director with Southern Living at HOME, and I feel it necessary to share it with you all.

The only reason I know of this type of breast cancer is because it is in one of my medical books of skin diseases. I find it shocking, as I'm sure you will, that the medical profession is mis-diagnosing this a mere insect bite!

Please take the time to view this video "The Silent Killer: Inflammatory Breast Cancer", and pass it along to all of those you know who have breasts!

Take Care,

Liz

I feel I have to post this because here in the Pacific Northwest, tanning beds are very popular due to the lack of sun in the winter. I do understand the psychological (and physiological) need for this as it does help to ward off depression, and who knows, maybe after my first winter here I'll be tempted to do the same. But the facts haven't changed and tanning beds still contribute to skin cancer as much as the sun.

SKIN FACT:
"On average, more than one million Americans use a tanning salon every day. That’s one million Americans who are exposing themselves to tanning beds and are 2.5 times more likely to develop squamous cell carcinoma and 1.5 times more likely to develop basal cell carcinoma. And if they’re using the beds and they are under 35, it’s increasing melanoma risk by 75 percent."

SKIN FACT:
"According to the American Cancer Society, men are twice as likely to develop skin cancer over women. In fact, it is more common than prostate cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer in men over 50. This makes skin cancer the most common cancer in men over 50."
